Willem Aalders is an Advisor at Total Impact Capital.
Background:
Prior to joining TOTAL, Willem’s professional background was in finance and investment management in both emerging and developed markets. This market experience provides a holistic perspective to his approach to opportunities and situations. He has experience on the sell side (alternative and sustainable investments and project financing) and in asset management (private equity, project financing, and Impact investing). He has represented firms like ThyBo Asset Management and La Compagnie Benjamin de Rothschild (now EdR). At the moment, he is leading the set-up of an innovative impact fund of funds structure that aims to attract large amounts of patient capital towards leading impact funds that are able to move the financial needle towards meaningful impact projects that make the much-needed transition a reality.
From 2007 to the present, Willem has provided advisory work for private equity, hedge fund investors, companies, and financial services firms in both emerging markets and developed markets, including facilitating the closing of a $70 million Transport Infrastructure Fund, a €150m European Real Estate Fund, and a $300m Global Biofuel Fund. His advisory work has enhanced Willem’s private and public network in Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
From 1990 to 2000, Willem climbed the ranks toward Marketing Director at his family’s Shipping Agency business in Rotterdam, which was sold in 2000. He is a recognized specialist in supply chain logistics and in building international partnerships.
Willem holds a BA from Leiden University (’88) and an MBA from Rotterdam School of Management (’98). He is also a member of The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (94’) and served as Platoon Commander in the Dutch Cavalry and as Liaison officer for the 41st Armor Brigade as Captain (’82-84).
