Arthur Wood is a co-founder of Total Impact Capital. Arthur is also a Founding Partner of Equity4Humanity, of which Total Impact Capital is a key partner. Hosted by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, Equity4Humanity is a new integrated 4 Systems paradigm for the development of a global collaboratory involving more than 20 organizations and experts. It is focused on Impact Investment v.2, aiming to mobilize “Billions to Trillions” by supplying and applying new legal and technological tools, thus providing a systems framework for development intermediaries. In addition to these roles, Arthur is an adviser of Victoria Summit (Canada), he publishes and speaks widely, and he is a Sorenson Foundation Global Impact Fellow and TBLI Global Impact Hero.
Arthur held prominent positions at several renowned financial institutions. He was a Financial Consultant at Merrill Lynch's top global office and an Institutional US Aerospace Defence and geopolitical broker analyst at MCB. At the Coutts Group, he served as the Senior Manager of Group Investment Advisory, overseeing global product development for Coutts' five global entities in the UK, Offshore, Switzerland, Asia, and the US. Moving on to Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, Arthur became a Senior Director in Change Management and Head of Product Development & E-Commerce. Under his leadership, his team was honored by PAM as the most innovative product development house in London, surpassing both Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley. Their groundbreaking work on E-Commerce was recognized by McKinsey as being at the cutting edge of commercial applications.
Arthur's social sector involvement extends over 15 years. His leadership roles include being a Group Member at Ashoka and the Founder of Social Financial Services based in Washington DC and New York. In partnership with UBS, he introduced the concept of "Market-based solutions for Philanthropy" and co-authored the pioneering UN paper on Impact Investment and the transition to Outcome solutions. Among his innovative financial solutions are the first Blended Value Structure, the Eye Fund developed with Deutsche, and the SIB/DIB, as recognized in the Cabinet office history. Arthur's significant contributions include assisting numerous Social Finance Entrepreneurs across various sectors and co-authoring the business case that brought JP Morgan into the realm of Impact Investment.
Arthur has held several board and advisory posts. He was a Social Agenda council member at the World Economic Forum, setting the agenda for Davos. He served as an expert advisor to the OECD on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Metrics, and Blockchain. Other roles include being on the Executive Committee of the Board at Ecolint, the world's largest international school, and serving on the board of Big Issue Invest. Furthermore, Arthur is a founding member of the Canadian Social Finance movement and has worked with former US and UK regulators on new global legal paradigms for development that have been passed into US law. His dedication to the social sector is further showcased by his role on the B Corp Advisory Board.
Arthur speaks English, French, Italian, Norwegian, and bad Spanish. He holds a BSc (Hons) from the London School of Economics and an MBA from SDA Bocconi in Milan, Italy, as well as Groupe HEC in Jouy en Josas, France. His financial training includes Merrill Lynch's Series 5, 7, 15, and 64, obtained in London and New York.
Prior to Total Impact Capital:
Cooking, history, and a variety of water sports, including scuba diving and lifesaving, the latter of which earned a distinction from the Royal Life Saving Society. An avid traveler and public speaker, Arthur also enjoys the simplicity of cabin life, or "Hytte Liv," and writing, with his works featured on platforms like OECD Development Matters. He also has an English sense of humor, which is currently required when engaging in discussions about current British and global politics.
Arthur is married to a Norwegian and is the proud father of three children and a black Labrador.
